I think one of my least favorite types of responses to people speaking up on sexual harassment and sexual assault is are articles like “in wake of weinstein, men wonder if hugging women still ok”, and comments like “this is why men don’t pursue women anymore”, “i don’t wanna work with women cause i don’t want a lawsuit”, or “i don’t even look at women anymore cause everything is sexual harassment”. this is a particular brand of rape culture, men acting as if women are overreacting, as if men don’t have the basic social skills to know the difference between wanted and unwanted advances, as if women simply setting boundaries is “cramping their style” and “emasculating” them, as if the rules of respecting women are super confusing, so confusing that they’re supposedly forcing men not to interact with us altogether.

this is an act they’ve been putting on for decades: playing stupid, pretending not to know better and then getting upset when we tell them what “better” is. if that doesn’t show you how emotional and emotionally manipulative they are, i don’t know what does.

Also, it’s just more evidence that men (as a whole) have never tried to think about what it would be like to interact with a woman without the interaction being a window to a possible sexual advance. It’s the same reason so many women are stalked in their workplaces (primarily customer service, retail, or other public spaces) by customers and clients. Men assume a woman being FRIENDLY, which is her JOB, as a hint that she is sexually interested. They literally think that being kind and courteous to others is flirting. It’s not surprising that men can’t conceive of a world where they could just interact with women in a fucking normal way without automatically seeing the woman as a sexual pursuit. It’s such a piss off and really makes me wonder why men are so willing to be so clearly ignorant, while claiming to be the “better sex/gender”.

Sorry I need to rant:
Children cannot be sexually attractive because they aren’t sexual beings at all. To think of a child that way is so fucking sick and the HUGEST breech of consent because we can’t control what kind of nasty fantasies these people think about.

Pedophiles need to all go straight to hell. We can’t trust that someone is gonna reign in their sexual perversion like that. The risk is too high. One slip up and a child is changed forever. No sympathy for pedophiles.

Honestly being “demisexual” is fine if you want to ID with that label, but you’ve gotta recognize that it’s also something that MOST people experience, the vast majority of people don’t have a desire for sex with strangers, most people don’t have sexual feelings until a bond is formed, and only wanting sex with people you know well DOESN’T make you LGBT. It makes very little sense to put a label on it that sounds “queer” and alternative and then hype up this way of experiencing attraction as if people are systematically oppressed for not having sex with strangers.

A straight cis woman who only wants to have sex with men she has emotional connections with is just your average straight cis woman and benefits entirely from straight privilege and is not LGBT or queer in any way so jot that down
